Pre-baked anode is an electrode product made of petroleum coke and pitch coke as the main material and coal tar pitch as the binder. It is used as the anode material for the pre-baked aluminum electrolytic cell. Prebaked anodes are gradually developed along with the aluminum industry. In the production process of electrolytic aluminum, the prebaked anode is not only immersed in the electrolyte of the electrolytic cell as an anode, but also participates in the electrochemical reaction to generate consumption, so it is an indispensable material for the production of electrolytic aluminum.

The production process of pre-baked anodes uses petroleum coke, a by-product of the refinery, as the aggregate, accounting for more than 80% of the total weight of the pre-baked anode, and then uses the by-product coal tar from the coking plant as a binder to manufacture the pre-baked anode. Since its production only goes through crushing, screening, kneading, molding, and roasting, the raw materials account for a large proportion of its production cost, about 75%.


The production cycle of pre-baked anodes is longer than other carbon products, basically about one month, and due to the inconsistency of the size and model of each aluminum plant, the required electrical signal of the anode block, etc., this time is still long when the mold is customized separately. It will be extended, and it is generally necessary to negotiate with the factory for reservations two months ago.

It takes about 1-1.1 tons of petroleum coke and 0.17-0.2 tons of coal pitch to produce one ton of prebaked anodes, so cost changes directly affect the cost pricing and sales of prebaked anodes. In the process of electrolytic aluminum production, pre-baked anodes are consumable products, and each 1 ton of electrolytic aluminum needs to consume 0.45-0.5 tons of pre-baked anodes, and the replacement cycle is about 28-35 days. Therefore, changes in the production capacity of electrolytic aluminum have the same demand for pre-baked anodes. have a negative impact.
